There are copper and aluminum underground MC electrical cables available in our stock. We also stock MC cables that can be used outdoors but not directly underground which are much cheaper.

The underground MC cable made with copper THHN wires, a metal clad aluminum armor and a PVC jacket over the armor. The smaller awg sizes such as MC 14/2 through MC 10/4 have the option of stranded or solid copper depending on your application. The PVC jacket over the aluminum armor creates a moisture tight cable allowable for direct burial. Otherwise the MC cable would only be good for above ground or conduit use.

The characteristics of the aluminum MC cable is identical to the copper version with aluminum strands. It comes in the outdoor/conduit version and the underground version with the PVC jacket as well. Aluminum is much cheaper and lighter than copper cables which is based on the commodity pricing each day.
